The Camaro was Chevrolet’s answer to the Ford Mustang. It was started in 1967 and shown and sold in 1968. At a base sticker price of $2,466.67 it came in two trim packages RS or SS. Their Camaro came in different engine sizes and as a convertible. The First Generation Camaro ran from 1967-1970. Everyone’s favorite is the 1969. The Second Generation Camaro started in February 1970 and stayed for 12 years. The vehicle was bigger and heavier and took on a styling similar of Ferrari and no more convertibles. Due to tougher emission laws coming out engines were changing over the course of the 1970’s. Horsepower was going down, but everyone still loved the look. The best year was 1979 a record year for Chevy selling 282,571. By 1981 the Camaro had 3 trims. The Third Generation from 1982-1984 Camaro had some changes with the engines that brought them to smaller builds but there were MacPherson Strut Systems for front ends and the back end had a long torque arm and coils and then fuel injectors and automatic transmissions and 4 speed manual. The next vehicle was the IROC in 1985 better, bigger engine and a new convertible too.  1990 was the last year for the IROC. In spring of 1990 Chevy re-introduced the Z-28, it had a tall rear wing, lower body cladding, new hood scoops, five spoke wheels and engine 245 horsepower 5.7 liter TPI V8.  The Fourth Generation 1993 Camaro led with 2 models, the base sport coupe with GM V6 and the Z28 with the Corvette’s small-block V8. The Z28 was a hit. 1994 the convertible returned. In 1998 a small-block C5 Corvette all aluminum engine V8 was added to the Z28.
